MOBILE CLASSROOM AT
FHC CONFERENCE

The Florida Housing Coalition Conference, in partnership with Valley National Bank, will offer a mobile classroom tour of LIFT Orlando on Wednesday, August 29. The cost of the mobile classroom is $10 per person.

LIFT Orlando is a non-profit organization consisting of business leaders partnering with residents to break the cycle of poverty by achieving the shared goals of mixed-income housing, cradle to career education, community health and wellness and long-term economic viability. No single organization is able to solve all of the complex social problems affecting our most vulnerable communities. Designed to serve as a “Community Quarterback” with a geographic focus, LIFT Orlando is unlocking the power of collective impact by bringing together residents, homeowners, local businesses, best-in-class non-profits, philanthropies, government leaders and other community-minded partners to accelerate community transformation.

Tour Description

The LIFT Orlando tour will introduce participants to the product of this rare partnership between downtown business leaders and urban neighborhood residents and the physical developments brought about by that collaborative work. LIFT Orlando’s goal for housing has always been to build high-quality, mixed-income housing that elevates the standard of living for our lowest income residents while providing quality amenities for new residents.

Currently, under construction, LIFT Orlando's first development, Pendana at West Lakes, is a 200-unit high-quality, multifamily development designed for residents of all income levels to come together and enjoy as neighbors. Named by residents after the Swahili house name meaning “To Love One Another” these apartments will be conveniently located near exceptional educational, employment, healthcare and recreational opportunities. 70% of the units are designated as affordable based on income levels for residents earning 60% of the area median income or below.  10% will be designated for extremely low-income tenants. 20% will be available for higher-income residents at a regular market rate. Future developments will include a senior housing community and affordable single family home available for sale.

LIFT Orlando is also building a The Community Campus at West Lakes. This complex will house a cradle to career pipeline in partnership with the existing schools and boldly address the educational, health and wellness needs of the community. The Campus will include a world-class, Boys & Girls Club facility, neighboring a state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Center, and an innovative, new Health and Wellness Center across the street from LIFT Orlando's three phases of new, mixed-income housing.

LIFT Orlando will serve as a “community quarterback” to integrate these facilities and the partnering organizations they will house within an interlocking network of supportive collaborations. Together, they will remove barriers to opportunity for children and families. This approach will offer high-quality, early childhood education, after-school programs for children, access to healthcare services, fitness, and nutritional resources and community support programs – all within a walkable neighborhood community.
