YIGBY and Faith-Based Housing Development Process Workshop for Houses of Worship in St. Petersburg

The Florida Housing Coalition will host the YIGBY and Faith-Based Housing Development Process Workshop for houses of worship in St. Petersburg on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This in-person workshop will build on the informational session by helping congregations move from mission-based interest to a practical understanding of whether and how their faith-owned land may be positioned for affordable housing development.

This workshop is designed for faith leaders, trustees, property committees, and congregational decision-makers who are ready to examine property fit, development pathways, site feasibility, partnership structures, financing, and long-term stewardship. Participants will explore local housing needs, development models, site analysis considerations, the affordable housing development process, team roles, predevelopment resources, capital stack basics, and the capacity-building requirements needed to move from early interest to development readiness.

Following the workshop, congregations interested in continuing will be invited into the Nonprofit Capacity Building Institute, which includes 22 weeks of phased training through Building Blocks, Momentum, and Legacy. This pathway will help participants strengthen organizational readiness, refine project concepts, assess feasibility, prepare financing materials, and move toward review by the Funding Review Council when appropriate.
