YIGBY and Faith-Based Housing Informational Session

The Florida Housing Coalition will host the YIGBY and Faith-Based Housing Informational Session for houses of worship in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This in-person session will introduce congregations to the Faith Community Housing Assistance Program, the City of St. Petersburg’s YIGBY framework, and the public, nonprofit, and community partners supporting the program.

This four-hour session is designed for faith leaders, trustees, property committees, and congregational decision-makers who are exploring whether housing development on faith-owned land may align with their mission and long-term property goals. Participants will receive a practical overview of local housing needs, YIGBY legislation, faith-based housing roles, congregational readiness, partnership considerations, and available technical assistance. Through presentations, table conversations, a working lunch panel, and a guided discernment activity, congregations will consider both the opportunities and concerns connected to faith-owned land development.

By the end of the session, participating congregations will have a clearer understanding of the program pathway, participation expectations, and next steps. Congregations interested in continuing will be invited to move into the September 10 Development Process Workshop, where property fit, site feasibility, development pathways, partnerships, and financing will be explored in greater detail.
